Who doesn’t love a good romcom?! Throw in some 80s music, Billy Idol, a pineapple, and a walrus, and the Geek Girls are all in! We are talking about Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler in “50 First Dates” and “The Wedding Singer.”

This Thanksgiving, Geek Girl Soup is debating This and That. “What’s that?” you ask. How about Neo vs John Wick, for example! Or LOST vs Game of Thrones. Or turkey vs tofurkey.

November 8th was a momentous day this year. That’s right; Geek Girl Soup’s favorite cable station/streaming service turned 50!

For her birthday, Cort got to pick this week’s homework. Given her love of all-things-spooky, you can’t be surprised that we got a horror film (“Barbarian” on HBO Max) and a supernatural series (“The Girl in the Mirror” on Netflix).

Why would a show with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score get canceled? Because then-CBS-head Les Moonves wanted a bionic-man, spy-style, police-procedural drama. And that’s not what he got with “Now and Again,” starring John Goodman, Dennis Haysbert, Margaret Colin, Heather Matarazzo, and Eric Close.

If a movie mom is “scary,” does that count as a monster flick? In the case of “Lou,” with Allison Janney and Jurnee Smollett, it does not. But that’s what we watched, along with “Beast” and “Werewolf at Night.”

It’s the Geek Girls’ favorite episode of the year… the annual rewatch of HBO’s “The Leftovers”! This is our 5th time doing it—not our 5th time watching, mind you. We’ve lost count of that. This year, we’re focusing on faith and lies, specifically with Keven and Nora.

We’ve got a special bonus episode for you! We all finished watching “What We Do In the Shadows” (Hulu). So, we’re chatting about seasons 3 and 4.

We are finishing off our 7 Deadly Sins theme with one hell of a movie: “The Devil’s Advocate.” For us, this movie represents pride. For Al Pacino’s John Milton/The Devil, it’s vanity. Cort looked it up, and, technically, vanity is an excess of pride. So, we’re cool.
