GGS 12.05: 50 Years of HBO

HBO logo from 1972

November 8th was a momentous day this year. That’s right; Geek Girl Soup’s favorite cable station/streaming service turned 50!

We told y’all last week that we’d be doing a monthly One-and-Done episode today. But it turns out that we all hated “The Tick” (9-episode, live-action version). So, we talk about that for about three seconds then move on to discuss about some of the best TV shows and limited series ever made. Yeah, we’re talking about “The Best of HBO.” But, by definition, that means “The Best of TV.”

We each share three of our favorites. So, that’s nine different shows for you. Plus, there are the three “HBO Pantheon” shows that automatically get all the awards: “The Leftovers,” “The Wire,” and “Oz.”

At the end, we mention a few others, of course, because we can never stick to our own rules.

So, if you’ve been wondering what to add to your watchlist, give this episode a listen. We’ve got you covered!
