It’s Christmastime! We know, lots of other holidays too, but this podcast is focused on Christmas in Norway, Italy, South Africa, Poland, the UK, Brazil, & Holland.

Can you believe that after 12 long years “The Walking Dead” has finally ended? Well, the original series has. We’ve got spinoffs coming for Daryl, Michonne, and Rick, of course. And there’s the rest of the TWD Universe. So, what’s dead may never die. (Wrong show!)

Our One-and-Done show this month is the 2009 NBC series “Kings,” starring “Deadwood’s” Ian McShane and Marvel’s Sebastian Stan.

Who doesn’t love a good romcom?! Throw in some 80s music, Billy Idol, a pineapple, and a walrus, and the Geek Girls are all in! We are talking about Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler in “50 First Dates” and “The Wedding Singer.”

This Thanksgiving, Geek Girl Soup is debating This and That. “What’s that?” you ask. How about Neo vs John Wick, for example! Or LOST vs Game of Thrones. Or turkey vs tofurkey.

This week, we’re celebrating another trip around the sun for Susan. Joining us to discuss a few of Susan’s favorite things are Chris and Dave from “The VHS Strikes Back” and “ComicsinMotion”. Amelia is back with us too this week as we talk all things Reality TV and Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes.

November 8th was a momentous day this year. That’s right; Geek Girl Soup’s favorite cable station/streaming service turned 50!

For her birthday, Cort got to pick this week’s homework. Given her love of all-things-spooky, you can’t be surprised that we got a horror film (“Barbarian” on HBO Max) and a supernatural series (“The Girl in the Mirror” on Netflix).

Why would a show with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score get canceled? Because then-CBS-head Les Moonves wanted a bionic-man, spy-style, police-procedural drama. And that’s not what he got with “Now and Again,” starring John Goodman, Dennis Haysbert, Margaret Colin, Heather Matarazzo, and Eric Close.

If a movie mom is “scary,” does that count as a monster flick? In the case of “Lou,” with Allison Janney and Jurnee Smollett, it does not. But that’s what we watched, along with “Beast” and “Werewolf at Night.”

It’s the Geek Girls’ favorite episode of the year… the annual rewatch of HBO’s “The Leftovers”! This is our 5th time doing it—not our 5th time watching, mind you. We’ve lost count of that. This year, we’re focusing on faith and lies, specifically with Keven and Nora.

We’ve got a special bonus episode for you! We all finished watching “What We Do In the Shadows” (Hulu). So, we’re chatting about seasons 3 and 4.

We are finishing off our 7 Deadly Sins theme with one hell of a movie: “The Devil’s Advocate.” For us, this movie represents pride. For Al Pacino’s John Milton/The Devil, it’s vanity. Cort looked it up, and, technically, vanity is an excess of pride. So, we’re cool.

You’ve seen the movie. But have you watched the now-canceled series? For this month’s One-and-Done, we’re chatting about “Heathers”—the trying-a-bit-too-hard series that’s based-on, riffed-off-of, an homage-to the Winona Ryder/Christian Slater film from 1988.

We are on the penultimate sin of our 7 Deadly Sins theme. (Are there really only seven? Seems like there should be more.) This time we’re talking about sloth with the Pixar movie “Wall-E.” Yes, it works, in a twisty sort of way.

What do YOU do in the shadows? That’s what we’re discussing this week for part 3 of Hot Vampire Summer: “What We Do in the Shadows” (Hulu). In this fabulous mockumentary series, created by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, we follow four vampires who live together with their familiar. Three of the vampires are the “proper” blood-sucking kind, while the fourth is of the energy-sucking kind.

Months ago, we read a post by Eric Eidelstein on Twitter in which he challenged followers to pick one movie that “encompasses everything there is to know about you—your values, your fantasies, and your fears.” Well, challenge accepted!
