12.42: Lone Star State of Mind: “Friday Night Lights”

For Kelly’s birthday, we’re in a Lone Star state of mind! I mean, not everything is messed up in Texas, right, y’all? We watched a shoot-ton of episodes of “Friday Night Lights” to get fully in the mood.

This was Kelly’s first time watching, and she had no idea that Jurnee Smollett, Michael B. Jordan, Jesse Plemons, Adrianne Palicki, and Zach Gilford were in it—all actors she loves from other shows/movies!

This show’s got football, gun violence, abortion, and segregation/gerrymandering/redistricting. None of this is unique to Texas, of course. It’s also got young love, crime, inspiring speeches, cheerleaders, babies, engagements, drugs, and “compromise.” (Really, sir?)

Go check this out on Netflix if you’ve never seen it! Clear eyes, full hearts, y’all! (Watch and you’ll understand.)

Next week: It’s everything AppleTV+… our favorite streamer since a certain other streamer became Max. We’ll be sharing everything we’ve been watching there and what’s coming soon.)
