GGS 11.36 Justice Is Served

Justice is served GGS 11.36

Geek Girl Soup is not just a bit disappointed with the recent SCOTUS rulings on all the things. So, for Kelly’s birthday, she chose the theme of Justice is Served. We watched three films and one documentary series in which justice is, yes, served—to our approval.

We started with “The Innocence Files” (Netflix) which explores different cases of wrongful convictions and how those convictions were finally overturned—often after decades.

We watched “My Cousin Vinny” (HBO Max). You’ve seen it! “No self-respectin’ Southerner uses instant grits.” Well…. Best lawyer in comedy. “Are you sure?” “Positive.”

Then we watched “The Rainmaker” (HBO Max). Max Damon tears down an evil health insurance company that refuses to pay for a life-saving treatment for a young man with cancer. Watch the hero from “Jaws” (Roy Scheider) play the big bad!

Finally, we watched “…And Justice for All” (rent). “I’m out of order? You’re out of order. This whole courtroom’s out of order.” Yep, that’s where it’s from. Watch the movie to get the whole quote straight—and to see Al Pacino in a fabulous performance. (Kelly would have preferred to see him win an Oscar for this than for “Scent of a Woman.”)

Next week we’re back to our 7 Deadly Sins theme with gluttony. We’ll be watching “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”!
