GGS 10.51: Wrecked Riders
This week on Geek Girl Soup, it’s Susan’s choice with a diametrically opposed movie and TV show: “Riders of Justice” and “Wrecked.”

“Riders of Justice” (Hulu) is a Danish film, starring Mads Mikkelsen, who was recently in the 2021 Oscar- and BAFTA-award winning film “Another Round” (Hulu). Of course, you also know Mads from the TV show “Hannibal” (Hulu). “Riders of Justice” is about a Danish soldier (Markus—played by Mads) who returns home from Afghanistan when his wife dies in a train accident. He seeks revenge when a duo of statisticians (one of them a passenger on the train, along with Markus’ daughter) and a computer expert dig up evidence that the train explosion might not have been an accident. We’ll leave it at that here. But… we do go into SPOILERS in the podcast. So, go watch the movie! Listen to the beginning of the podcast for other things we’re watching, and skip to our discussion of “Wrecked,” if you haven’t seen “Riders of Justice” yet. But please go watch. It’s really excellent.
“Wrecked” is a three-season TV show that originally aired on TBS from 2016 to 2018. It is a spoof of and an homage to “LOST” (Hulu) in which a plane (Lotus Airlines Flight 816, ha ha) crashes onto a deserted island). In one particularly funny episode (s1 e3), the passengers find a mini DVD player with two hours of battery life left—and two DVDs: “Dumb and Dumber 2” and “Selma.” The group has to decide which to watch… from the perspective that that may be the last movie they ever see. We come up with our own answers in the podcast for what movie we would want to be our “final movie.”
In another episode (s2 e3), the passengers take a vote on whether the pirates should spoil them about season 6 of “Game of Thrones” (HBO Max, of course). The last thing that the passengers had seen was that Jon Snow had ___. (Not spoiling it here, ha ha.) The ayes have it, so the pirates act out season 6 in full detail. If you’ve seen “Game of Thrones,” you can tell what parts they’re showing in the ensuing montage. It’s hilarious.
Next week, it’s Geek Girl Soup’s 10th Soupiversary! We’ll be back with the whole gang—in two parts—to reveal how we got started, our favorite moments, our best and worst shows, some favorite sound bites, and more.
Thank you for listening.
