GGS 11.14 One and Done: Awake
This week at Geek Girl Soup, it’s another “One and Done.” For this episode, we explore the two lives of Detective Michael Britten (Jason Isaacs) in “Awake.”
As a preview, Mike, his wife, and their son are in a car crash. One morning, Mike wakes up, and his son is dead. The next morning he wakes up, and his wife is dead. Every morning alternates like this.
One of his therapists (Cherry Jones)—yes, he has one for each reality—says, “Well, I can assure you, Detective Britten. This is not a dream.”
Mike replies with a scoff, “That’s exactly what the other shrink said.” That other shrink is played by B.D. Wong.
In the meantime, Mike is solving crimes, in one reality with one partner, and in the other reality with a different partner. And he uses clues from one reality to solve crimes in the other reality. Pretty cool!
