13.19: We Are the World… But Where in the World Are We?

This week we are discussing two wildly different films: “The Greatest Night in Pop” (Netflix) and “Aniara” (max).

“The Greatest Night in Pop” is a documentary that just premiered at Sundance, immediately got distribution, and landed on Netflix. It is a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the USA for Africa charity song “We Are the World.”

This movie is wonderful and is particularly fabulous if you were a tween or older in 1985 when the song and music video came out!

The second movie is “Aniara,” a Swedish sci-fi, apocalyptic, space-travel flick. It came out in 2019, and we just discovered it and really dig it.

In this podcast episode, we start out talking about “The Greatest Night in Pop,” then discuss “Aniara” without spoiler, then move into a full-on spoiler-y chat about “Aniara.”

Next week: The first film from our Hidden Gems theme: “Polite Society” on Amazon Prime.
