GGS 12.01 The Leftovers 5th Annual Rewatch

It’s the Geek Girls’ favorite episode of the year… the annual rewatch of HBO’s “The Leftovers”! This is our 5th time doing it—not our 5th time watching, mind you. We’ve lost count of that.
This year, we’re focusing on faith and lies, specifically with Keven and Nora. Yes, Matt is the obvious choice to discuss faith, but he was our focus last year. Kevin and Nora start out totally faithless, each in their own way. We explore their separate and intertwining journeys toward what we call faith. In what? Listen to find out!
We also discuss Nora and lying. Ooh, but Nora never lies! Well, Kelly has a new perspective that she offers up this year, while Susan and Cort stick to their original thinking.
And we talk about the “Perfect Strangers” theme that is woven throughout the show. Are you a “Perfect Strangers” fan? Then check out “The Leftovers”! Ha ha, no, not the same feeling at all! That’s why it so interesting how Lindelof and Perrotta brought that theme in.
Next week we’re watching a few “scary” movies with “Lou” (Netflix), “Beast” (Peacock), and “Werewolf by Night” (Disney).
