GGS 11.40 One & Done 8: Firefly

Big damn heroes, sir! This week, the Geek Girls (and Chris) take a ride with Captain Tightpants and the crew of the Serenity for an extra special One and Done episode. That’s right. This week we marathoned all fourteen episodes of prematurely canceled Fox series, “Firefly” and the follow-up movie, “Serenity”. If you’ve somehow missed this 20-year old gem, the series is set in a not-so-distant future when the Earth that was got used up. 

Populations started inhabiting planets in other systems. Of course, there had to be that one governing body that just had to wield control over all. Enter Captain Malcom Reynolds. He and his loyal second, Zoe Washburn, fought against the Alliance and they lost. So now they live on Serenity and do occasional crime with old and new shipmates.

The series and film featured Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Alan Tudyk, Jewel Staite, Summer Glau, Sean Maher, Morena Bavarian, Ron Glass, and Adam Baldwin. During this episode, we discuss the original circumstances of the show’s cancellation and our respective histories with it.

We also touch on Hulu’s new hit movie, “Prey.” If you haven’t had a chance to check it out already, go watch both the English and Comanche dub. You won’t regret it. Chris and Cort talk Jordan Peele (No Spoilers, swear).
